Alright guys.  Decided before i put all the ICE in ym car im gunna buy soem new speakers for the front.  However having never dealt with 17cm speakers what would you all reckomend.  ICE So far is a Sony HU (not sure of model but it's a high spec one) , 1100W JBL Amp (speakers and sub output), and a Apline 12" Type R sub.  i play most rock/metal, but also a big of drum and bass.  All of my ICE i love just need new speakers.

Thanks

Make sure you go for components at the front, as for which make/model... im no expert but have Diamond D661 comps in my car and think they sound great (thats straight from an old Sony headunit).

As for mounting the tweeters, Sam "civictypereplica" found these on ebay:

Pioneer all the way! They make 17cm speaker's with seperate tweeters for the wing mirror panel. AMAZING sound quality! The best I've ever heard!
I have them in my new project (Which will be unveiled soon!) model number: TS-E176C
They are about £75, which is excellent value for money! Cheesy

sounds like a winner to me mate!  good value for money!

Can anyone tell me what the standard size is in the back?  i was thinking about putting some 5*7's or maybe 6*9's in the back to give a nice amount of treble?  just need to know if im guna be cutting things?

you wont need to cut anything just screw some screws directly into plastic for the backs cos the mountings are different, size - 17cm

The back speakers are crap from what I've found. Get rid of them and mount some 6x9's in the parcel shelf! You could even get the Pioneer TS-E6996 to match the front ones! Adding some dynamat around the speakers will help a lot too! Cheesy
That should set you up for when you want to add a sub to the system! Then I'd suggest swapping the JBL sub for a bass amp. You can comfortably run the speakers off the head unit, so you'll want the amp to be specifically designed to run subwoofers. I had a Kenwood one with a seperate bass adjustment device which can be mounted by your driving position so you can control the bass without messing with the head unit settings or treking to the boot to mess with the amp!

i dont realy want to buy a new amp atm.. the one i have kicks out way more bass than i will ever need so there's no point in upgrading.  dont fancey putting 6*9's on the parcel eather.  just need to try and get hold of some tweeter holders. went to honda today and then want £130 for em.
