i was lookin on d-series.org and found out that the d16y8 intake manifold will fit nicely onto our d16v1 and the d17a2 not too sure what it'll do for power tho (should be a lot better i think) but it will look great instead of the throtle body setup we have.

if you have any more knowledge than i have on this pls enlighten.

thnx chris

Hi mate, i saw the same mods done in the US so i thought that i'd give it a go and make my own.

Here are some pics, is a D16Y8 manifold with American D17 injectors, sensors & throttle body etc:

Hope this helps. Any questions, just ask.  Wink

Sorry mate, i don't really understand what you're asking. Can you try to type more clearly next time, thanks.

What i did was:

1. Machined the throttle body flange and manifold flange off of the standard D16Y8 manifold.
2. Blanked the unused vacuum ports in the D16Y8 manifold.
3. Manufactured a new D17 throttle body flange and welded it to the D16Y8 casting.
4. Welded the D17 injector plate (with EGR pathway) onto the D16Y8 casting.
5. Flowed all ports in and out of the manifold & matched to the cylinder head.
6. Drilled & tapped holes for the MAP sensor.
7. Removed the coolant fittings and blanked the holes on the IACV.
8. Fitted the D17 throttle body, injectors, fuel rail, MAP sensor and purge valve.
9. Manufactured a new throttle cable mounting bracket.
10: Manufactured a short ram intake and fitted the intake air temp sensor.

Any good engineer with the correct tools should be able to make this. I had to get the welding done at a local fabricators as we do not have a welding plant where i work.
I found it easy to to. It was a straight swap for the standard system as all the plugs and sensors etc are exactly the same.

Steve.
