a lot of meguiar's stuff is the dogs it appears, and results prove it.
a good wheel acid is fine for heavily dusted painted wheels, but even i would be conscious of using acid on polished lip rims as i see polished/diamond cut wheels corroding everyday just through normal use. the best bet is to never let them get too dirty, and just use a strong non acidic/alkali or caustic detergent to keep them tip top every few days...
even a mug full of 50 50 fairy liquid/boiling water applied with a stiff paintbrush will do this job quite well.
cheers, sam.

I use autoglym wheel cleaner. Few squirts, leave for a min or so and rinse off. works a treat.

I use AutoGlym engine cleaner, works a treat Spray on, then wipe off with a cloth and warm water Also means you don`t need 2 different bottles for your engine and rims
