I'd hate to abandon this forum; it has so much good info, discussion and history... is there nothing that can be done to stop the spammers [in particular Anthrax_u]? I don't recall any spamming issues until a few months ago... we had fewer mods who visited less frequently as there was no need for them to cleanse the forum everyday.

I just don't get what has changed. :?

Up to now, many threads have been started about the influx of spamming but i have yet to read what Halfloaf intends to do about the problem. Am I correct in saying that a software upgrade is all that's required to bolster site security?

If nothing happens soon, and with mods seemingly on strike, I too may be forced to leave.

I WONT BE LEAVING.

EPHATCH IS JUST A COPY OF THIS SITE. ITS POINTLESS.

ID RATHER SEE THIS SITE BETTER MANAGED THAN GO TO ANOTHER. I KNOW HALFLOAF IS BUSY, ITS NOT HIS FAULT.

MAYBE GIVE ONE OF THE MODS THE ABILITY TO BAN SPAMMERS?

ID HAPPILY BAN THE SPAMMERS IF I COULD.

TY, THIS SITE FTW, EPHATCH FTBIN

I'd be sorry to see this site go as it's a mine of useful information for we EP1 and EP2 owners. It's a site where we can mention getting CTR bits and putting them on our cars without being slandered by folk over on CTRO for daring to try and make our cars look like anything other than an EP1 or EP2. Again, it's these bloody spammers that ruin it for everyone.
I'd love to see what makes these folk tick!! What sort of an idiot decides, "I'm going to post meaningless, possibly offensive material on a website about nothing, that'll really p**s people off!"
I hope anthraxU is reading this, so he/she or whatever can take their posts about bloody role playing games and fake questions about Civics to somebody else's site.
I've attempted to log in to EPhatch and am still waiting for my e-Mail activation code. I will still visit EP2 and hopefully the spammers will get fed up and start posting on another website. Max Power for example.

so much info is stored here isn't it a goldmine too expensive to lose?

surely spammers are a thing forums have to deal with... and if there are no mods left, put an ad out for new ones! i'd be interested in spending a little time here and there too. you can't just give up cos some guy is getting carried away!!!

man seriously, i want the ability to come on the forum and just post, not spedn half an hour every day deleting spam. at one point, thats what it became, but ive given up because it no longer seems like a gold mine of info, it seems a mine of spam!

and EP2, i respect your opinion, but EPhatch is staying and tbh i think you will go over there eventually because everyone else has. it is a better forum with spam prevention in place and a great admin Smiley

The site should be kept open as there is plenty of very useful Info on this and it would take ages for the other site to gather half as much info. Unless it was all copied over to the new site

mmm, understood.

maybe the future is ephatch, where all civic owners come together as one.

i signed up to ephatch this morning after reading this post, it has a much fresher appearance and hopefully things will run really smoothly. the unison of EP3 owners with EP1/EP2 owners will be great for the D series boys looking to source parts from the Type R too...

will be in use of both forums regularly, and will expect to see most owners of all forums start using ephatch.co.uk as their main forum.

i don't think, on the whole, the loss of this forum will be that bad, there's nopoint being overrun by idiots, and if you have a question to ask, ask it on ephatch.co.uk!!!  at least all new members will be members who regularly post, so the stock if fresh all the time too.

farewell civic-ep2.co.uk xxx

i think with Half Loafs or the post owners permission we could actually copy information over to ephatch? only with their permission though. i feel its pointless having 2 sites

that would be awfully sensible.

maybe, for clearing purposes, first delete all members who haven't posted for say 3 months, and then send them a message asking them to sign up to the new forum.

then you have to decide which threads to transfer to the new forum, maybe using again an age system, trouble there is that some of the oldposts are the best!

maybe give members the power to transfer their own original posts to the new forum, meaning that not too many get transferred and crash the system!

once that's done, there will be a good amount of stuff on the new forum, and if we delete the transferred threads it will be really easy to see what's left, so then anything left could be transferred by other users who decide it's valuable info.

after that, the forum could be closed down.  sounds like a month of aggro, but it could work out great!

cheers, sam.

The forum isnt shutting down and no content will be moving either.

And if you think that deleting members who havent posted in over 3 months is a good idea, well you dont really understand the type of forum this is. This is first and foremost an information resource for Civic EP owners. That is why it is open for anyone to browse and anyone is welcome to join if they want to contribute.
