help, need alot of info on our facelift headlight bulbs ~ main beam

av gt a civic sport on a 05 plate, it milano red, am ordering a set of new sidelights cos them yellow ones are rubbish. But now they bout ready a think a fancy changing our main beam lights.
 The Main beam, not full beam is H1 isnt it. If so aa fancy some phillips H1 bulbs, they roughly £14, does the H1 bulb just swap with our projector bulbs ppl, also how do u get to behind the projector bulb or does that all come out. Does the new bulbs replace a bulbs inside the projector part. So hard to describe but hopefully u geniuses can shed some light, cheers guys

at a guess its the same as a pre facelift, you turn a holder and the bulb is inside that.

have a look at your owner manual, it tells you how to change a bulb in that. but it doesnt tell you what bulb you need.

prefacelift is H4.

i think facleift is h1 and h7. not sure.

i have a facelift and want to do the same but i cant get the bulb out guys any help i have bort h4 bulbs will they fit the book in the local motor factors said they would

facelifts dont use H4 bulbs as the high and low beams are seperate bulbs unlike H4 where high and low beam are together in one bulb

owner manuals dont say what bulbs we have and halfords ones are out of date!

H4 for facelift 53 and above are the wrong bulbs.

i think its H1 for low beam and something else for high beam (flash)

facelift bulbs are 501 for sidelights, H1 for main beam and HB3 for full beam.

just save up and buy HIDs mate, they last longer and look the dogs. the blue bulbs u can buy are rubbish as they only last a few weeks. its quite hard to get a good quality one, and the amount ur gonna spend on a philips or PIAA bulb is half if not the same amount as a HID set.

u dont have to fiddle with the projector part to get the bulb out. just have to undo the clip, pull off the rubber waterproofing ring, unlock the metal bar and pull the bulb out. the bulb is fitted to a white connector bit, DONT THROW THAT AWAY!!! u need it to fit the new bulb to. one fitted, just reverse the process.

i've changed my bulbs so many times that i can honestly do it in the dark without looking

a bulb which lasts for ages (3 months and still blue) is the halfords 80w ultra blue h1's. not that i'd condone fitting illegal 80w bulbs or anything but they do look alot more like hid than anything else i've seen. as they have a large amount of blue coating and the extra 25w makes up for the loss in light output caused by the blue filter.

If you're going to buy a HID conversion, make sure it is top of the range as so many times I see cars drive past that have obviously bought a HID Conversion kit and one of their lights are out.  And as for the comment about HID bulbs only lasting a few weeks, thats rubbish! I had a peugeot 206 from Aug 2008 to only last week and I fitted Halfords Extreme Brilliance Headlight Bulbs and they are brilliant and are still shining bright. . .  I also matched them up with some Xenon White side lights and they complete the white with blue tint look and it looks smart.

Speaking of which, I have just bought those sidelights for my civic, but have no idea how to change the bulbs - anyone car to advise?
