Is "Text Speak" acceptable on our forum or would you prefer proper English as much as possible?

Personally, I struggle to read sentences in text speak but don't mind the odd abbreviation - it could be that i'm a few years older than the average forum user but i maintain, using proper English makes using the forum more enjoyable; not to mention the image it gives to new/potential members and those from overseas to whom English is a second language.

I don't intend on persecuting those who don't think the same way as I do nor go about correcting spelling and grammar, as i'm far from perfect!

Thoughts appreciated.

Lol, i actually got told to do a spell check on one of the posts as i tend to use allot of "text speak" hahaha
Personally, i do it because i think its a much quicker way of saying something, but like EP02JAY says, it takes time to read and understand. And also its a trend nowadays innit!

If people are unhappy, or just prefer normal english... then please say! Like EP02JAY says, need to keep the forum enjoyable and every1 happy!

Tlk 2 u all l8r! (haha) Grin

Well at the end of the day, majority of young people use the net and i dont believe its our fault if we text speech because its just a way of typing really, i do it and i feel comfy with it, as long as you dont take the mick with write 2 letters from a 8 letter word then its all good lol...

i had someone telling me how i should write on forums and to tell you the truth it proper peed me off, i write how i want, and i dont believe my text is bad. If it was terrible im sure every1 would be on my case.

My vote is with text speak Grin

*Change of mind, Proper english lol*

Because my text is more or less proper english with a few appreviation but not a vast amount, one could say lol

little abbreviations like that aren't going to hurt anybody are they...

do as you use please but bare in mind that if you want to put your point across without making it more difficult for someone to understand it would make more sense to write to a reasonable standard …after all it is a forum...(I assume for a social chitchat, advice and so on)...obviously use your judgment you wouldn’t want to wipe out that relaxed vibe across the forum. I have a hard enough time spelling as it is and don't want to feel like I'm being marked on every post. GET OFF MY BACK already.... Undecided
im up for text and english as my grammar is inconsistent.
Personally writing in text on a full sized QWERTY keyboard seems longer to me??? i text talk cos I cant be arsed to press all the dam lil keys on my phone.
