hi guys,

Martin here - Just came across this site by chance and I'm really glad to see it's primarily for sport owners. I just took delivery of a new 55 plate silver civic sport on Friday having had an 04 registered 1.4 civic for the last year. I'm really impressed with the sport although there are some strange darkish stains on the bonnet and the driver's side window rattles. I'm going to book the car in with Arnold Clark where I bought it to have both things dealt with. The sport feels a lost faster than the 1.4 and I really like the smaller steering wheel and firmer ride.

I did a fair bit with the 1.4 including full alfa romeo nuvola blue respray, red 'H' bade on boot and 17" BK RAcing alloys...

Got a lot of enjoyment and attention from the 1.4 but I got fed up with it after a while and wanted a bit more power - hence the new sport. I'm running it in easy for the first 600 miles but I gave it a quick blast tonight and I have to say I'm happy with how much quicker than the 1.4 it is. Just need to get a set of mats and a rear red 'H' badge and that's it. I'm a student at the minute but once I'm working I'll be looking to trade up to the ctr. Not much point in me taking pics of the sport - you all know what a standard one looks like but I'm lookin forward to visiting here more often and any peeps in the Glasgow area gimme a shout

hello and welcome mate, just have to say that the colour on that car is beautiful, must have been expensive!

the extra bit of grunt and v-tec make it a whole lot more worthwhile with the sport

have you got any future plans for your car?

Im not fussed about telling ppl how much it cost - at the end of the day I worked for my cash so I don't mind telling ppl how much it cost. All in I paid a grand for the paintjob and I was really happy with the results. It's up for sale at Arnold Clark in Glasgow for anyone who's interested lol.

As for the sport - my funds will be taken up with repayments. For my bday in march I wouldn't mind an aftermarket cd player. I need a set of mats and I want to change the rear 'H' badge to a red CTR one. I'm not a CTR look alike wannabee - just think it looks a whole lot nicer. Quite keen on putting a 'sport' badge on the front grill as well. I'd really like a replica Type R spoiler as I think they finish the sport off but unless I find a cheap one - I won't be paying dealer prices.

If I had plenty of cash, then knowing me I'd probably start going crazy with mods but errrr I dont lol I'm just back from Honda where I bought a 'sport' badge for £20 (rip-off) and I've just put it on the front grill which looks good. Just hopr it stays on. Would love a Type R spoiler -what year is your sport? and does the type R spoiler have the break light in it? I'd love to get one off e-bay but would be a bit worried it wouldn't fit once I get it etc

My sport is a 2005 , i got it in August and love it. My sport badge for the grill cost me £10 inc postage , i got a bargain and it looks excellent.

I dont think it has the break light but for that kinda £ you cant complain eh!

There is another spoiler on ebay just now and its a genuine Type R one bidding at the moment is £75 but the guy will take a Buy It now for £100 + £10 postage. That has the space for a break light, but the LED ISNT included.

Doh! didn't realise you had a sport badge on the grill - didn't copy you honest

I think I'd prefer the spoiler without the break light cos obviously we already have a break light underneath. Get some pics up once you have it fitted - should look  Cool

Hello martin,

Think i remeber you from HR, over a year ago you posted a thread called "civic 3 door my thoughts" or something? You car looked nice and lots spent on it, so was the 1.4 not upto the job? The lure of vtec is a bit much lol welcome.

hi, yeah I did post up on Honda Revs - never really warmed to that site as much as I did with others but I got some good replies to that replies and it was good to hear different opinions on the colour etc. The 1.4 was a great car but someone hit me in an NCP car park and when I had the damage repaired - the paint job never really looked as good IMO and as I say, the desire for more power soon had me looking at my options - even had a look at the fabia vrs lol which, is actually a damn good car. In the end up, I decided to stay with Honda - I like the brand and the image associated with the sport and ctr - perhaps more so with the type R but the sport's still a great car for the money.
