Hey guys, I hav a 2004 04 plate ep2 sport in blue.  It has done 57k and havnt had no problems until now.
Ive been 2 the garage who i normally use and they are really good and have told me that my gearbox has gone.  The gearbox is not making a whining noise but a really loud sort of hard rubbing noise in 1st 2nd but you can hardly hear it in 3rd 4th or 5th.
i was just wondering if you guys knew of any problems or issues that you have heard of or come across and also a diagnosis because i really dont wanna have to shell out for a new gearbox if possible.  Any help right now is greatly appreciated.

Thanks Fletch. . . . .

Yea been told that is what it is by a gearbox specialist.  Got a replacement box for £420.  Isnt exactly what you expect to go on a car of this age.  Jay-ho: Is yours being rebuilt?

am sure they just take the box apart and change the bearings... the parts wer only about £150 but its like 5 hours labour...

so dont think mine is getting totaly rebuilt mate..

erm yea mine was doing it for a while and has got gradually worse.  so i imagine if the problem is not addressed the bearings will just give in.
