I am thinking about trying to find a lightweight flywheel for my car. Exedy and a few other manufacturers make them for older Civics with D16/D17 SOHC engines and i beleive the Exedy HF501 Flywheel should fit. Does anyone know if these would fit our D16V1??

Yeah it should.....that's what I got in mine. Can't check on that part number. I'm on my blackberry....but I got mine from clutchmasters on eBay an American company. Shipped by ups and had to pay tax or import costs upon delivery. Worked out to be about 250 clutch and flywheel all exedy. Will dig around for the invoice and check part numbers.

Nice one, I'm glad someone has fitted one to their civic. What does the car drive like now? Have you had any problems with stalling? And has it made a noticeable differance to the performance of the car?

Ill look later today... If its for a sohc d16 civic it should fit. Doesn't really stall don't go any lighter than the one I have. Performance wise... Initial pick up is quicker....gets through the revs a little bigger....any gear your in it picks up quicker....granted the gains are not massive....you will also notice the bite will be very strong.

Yes I have one fitted to my civic. Brought it off Dezod 2 years ago- it fits and runs fine as will any d16/d17 combo.

Does anyone know or recommend a clutch kit that i should buy for it? I am going to be replacing my clutch with a new unit at the same time. Any names or part numbers would be highly appreciated.

HF501 is the part number of the Flywheel, I believe the part number of the clutch i need is 08801A. Does that sound familiar?

Well i placed my order for an Exedy Lightweight Flywheel & Organic Clutch Kit, Just checked the tracking details ans it's currently sat in UK customs! Should have it sometime next week! hehe!! I spoke to the owner of TGM Sport Racing (that place is a Honda owners wet dream, lol.. Loads of JDM DC5's etc...) and he said he'll fit me in one day the following week to get the Clutch, Flywheel and my new Engine Mounts installed.

nice - quick one q.
why the engine mounts - explain the advantages to me. As the answer you give may resolve a particular annoying problem I have when shifting and when the engine rev's up from the low end at a particular speed.

The engine mounts have always seemed very weak to me, they feel like they move quite a bit under acceleration / deceleration. The new Energy Suspension motor mounts i am getting are a type of polyurethane insert that fits around the existing mount and tightens everything up. It will just make the car feel better, everything should feel much more direct...
