Yes, there are power gains. 4-1 with hi flow cat is legal and passes MOT emmissions requirements.
4-2-1 is more powerful, can be deemed illegal by cop having bad day does not always pass MOT emmissions test and requires a plug to fix the downstream o2 sensor reading.
Mine was from TSS tuning there are others available. Either way you need to replace the cat or hi flow the cat to get proper power gain of a max 10-15hp.
Best

your existing exhaust system will become louder if you replace the standard manifold and cat. if the middle box and backbox are OEM then i'm not sure what the result would be. its not a good idea because then the standard rear section is acting like a bottleneck

Hi,
Neither need a remap. If you remap it does give you the best gains spreading the torque evenly and maximising power. Just be aware removing the cat will throw an engine light fault code without a plug fix.
There is really no point in keeping the standard cat back system as it is puny and restrictive. Best to get an aftermarket exhaust! Try Scorpion, or TSS Tuning in Germany. Some searching on the net will quickly show you where to go. Also read shakmans and samspots posts!
Best

Just thought i'd share my exhaust set-up which, passed the MOT emissions test last week:
Strup ceramic coated 4-1 header Top gear custom high-flow cat Top gear custom mid-pipe with silencer Supersprint backbox
Not had a remap (yet) but can already feel the difference.
As for noise, i was after a quiet set-up and this suits me perfectly.
