engine cleaning?!

I'm looking for some help! What is the safest and DIY way to clean your engine bay?!
Any particular products to use?!

first off, a pair of rubber gloves/marigolds is most definately necessary as u dont want all that dirt under ur fingernails - especially if ur playin with the missus later

get an old, clean paintbrush and make sure its dry. use it to brush off loose dirt and dust.

a slightly damp cloth is good to clean away any marks or stains. that cloth will get real dirty though so dont use ur mum's best ones! something like a old microfibre cloth would be perfect. u dont really need products - but it depends on what kind of clean ur going for. the above bits will be good to remove ur common stuff. if u want a sparkle u could try using just a tiny bit of wonderwheels diluted in water on some metal areas.

Thats alright i have a spare set for the misses!!! hahaha!! dont like to get my hands dirty, and she seems to like them!! haha!!

Oh right, okay, coz i have been told that there was a product called 'GUNK' which was supposed to be very good at engine bays! but if i just abit of dulited wonder wheel then that awsome!!

oh, another question, is there any form of winter seal polish we can buy for our cars?!

i wouldn't recommend spraying ur engine bay with a hose - mainly as electricity doesn't like water!

u could prob steam clean some problem areas - so long as its not around any circuits, wiring looms or anything that may cause a problem.

i just sprayed a load of the engine cleaner on, left it a minute or two, agitated it with a wheel brush then blasted it off with the pressure washer, from a distance though... and everything worked fine  remember everything under the bonnet's designed to take so much water since its semi-exposed to the elements all the time, as long as you don't go any closer than a metre and don't put it near the cone filter (if you have one) then everything will be fine

i did the whole of my engine with a can of WD-40 and a small paintbrush. worked a treat and leaves all the black plastic looking shiny and new!
