Hi, Ive had my civic sport for about a year now and was fairly happy with it till i got blew out by my mates new 98 1.6 civic long and short of it i need to leave him sitting !!! When his vtec kicks in its like a tubuo kicking you up your a*s why is mine not even close too this?? he has performance cams and remapped and 4 brach manifold . willing to spend up to £1000-£2000 all i have done performance wise is a induction kit and powerflow back box . hi mate welcome to the site

most probably easiest way to gain power is to get th whole engine worked on ie;

port and polish
manifold
de cat
cams
ecu
exhast
intake

after all that you might make about 35-45 bhp extra

or you could order a turbo kit for the d17 from america :twisted:

which engine is in your mates car? the DHOC or SOHC?
if its the first one you will have some trouble ever catching him but if its the first one it has a bit more power stock and is lighter so lightening your car may be an option?

Im going to take a stab in the dark here and asume your mate has the VTi, now this little 1.6 is not a normal 1.6 its running a b16a dohc. The spec is 160bhp compared to the ep2's 110. It has dohc vtec that comes alive at 5500 rpm, where the ep2 dies at 5.5k and only has sohc.

Im afraid you will never beable to perform liek his car unless you have a shed load of cash.

My bro had a VTI aswell. Its bloody rapid when VTEC kicks in. It does 0-60 in around about 8 secs and thats standard. i wouldnt race one if i was u unless u had enough mods on it. Only civic be able to kill it is the CTR.

Get NOS.  Cheapest and most efficient way to give you a chance to keep up with him for a bit, but at the end of the day he'll still own you.   :cry:
