sup people hope everybody had a good new years and all that game

i bought a civic 1. 6 auto se sport 2002 about 2 and a half months ago
so far the cars been all good except for having to do the front brakes and disks

but the other day 04/01/10 i was chilling in my car with a friend with the car running in park
for quite abit then the dreaded yellow light came on so i instantly s**t it  and turnt the car off

started it back up and it was running fine but the light was still on
took it home parked it up phoned honda got it booked in

so on the 6th i start the car and theres no check engine light and the car seemed to be running fine
i went to honda anyway and payed the 30 quid to diagnoise the car

they tell me they ran a hds test and found a fault code p0171 = FUEL METERING TO LEAN

So they reset and tested and all seems o. k and told me to mointor
if it comes on again to bring it bk in

then bang today im eating sum food after droping my old dear to the hospital and the light comes back on
i dont normaly eat in the car but i was fuking starving

so i gave honda a call they was closed and said someones gonna phone me in the morning
took the car home then i had to go take a dvd bk to blockbuster

got bk in the car started bk up and the lights gone again wtf

any ideas wtf is going on because my warranty runs out on the 30th of this month
and il be gutted if i miss it by a few days and end up paying for it myself

is this a common fault anyone else have this prob?

peace

same things happened to me, got the same message as you did, got it diagnosed and blanked from memory, mechanic said if it turns on again to come back, since then hasnt come back on was around 2 months ago. he said it was strange as that error shouldnt appear on cars that have 45000 miles or less. he said it could be the injectors, which you can buy a cleaner for.

sup hmmm bit of a weird one

got the car back from honda they said it was the spark plugs and fuel filter
i was like wtf fuk cost me £160  Huh

but they claim the last place that serviced my car used a cheap filter which was fuked and the spark plugs were fuked
so i aint going back there the cunts robbed me of 90 quid

but yeah i got the car back last friday and so far so good

fingers crossed man

Heh I've been having this problem.

My mate swears its the fuel filter which we're changing this weekend(had to order the part in)

For oil, oil filter, spark plugs and fuel filter i spent £100 and I'm doing the labour myself.

I'm only at 34000 and the light first came on around 27000 stays on for about 3-4 runs (short trips) and normally comes on if i have been parked idle for a while.

Lets hope it is Fuel filter and spark plugs.

On a side note my mates diagnostic equipment is reading the Mass Airflow Sensor as N/A not sure if this is correct.
