Gear Box Issues??

Hi all,

as you can see I am new to this site so I would just like to say Hi to you all.
I have just finalised the details today to buy a 2005 1. 6 Vtec Sport, pickup Thursday - yay!!
I part exed my clio 172 due to it having clutch and gearbox problems and meant that it would cost more than the value of the car to put it right. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . time to get shut. Will miss the power but as have lost 2 years no claims meaning I will only have 1yrs when my insurance is due fro renewal in April, was looking for something with less power (but with potential;) and yet cheap to insure and run.
The civic is the ideal choice. It's silver covered just over 57k and is in mint cond.

My only concern is that I have see a few reviews on the internet saying that there are common gear box problems with these cars and the reason I got rid of my clio was to get something that would last me a few years and that I wouldn't have huge repair bills for.
What is the sort of mileage that these problems occur at and are there any early warning signs of these issues.
Any help and advise on this would be very much appreciated.
