picture the scene... there I am, minding my own business travelling to work when I notice some ;wide boy; in a custom piece of Escort crap sitting up my arse... Whats a civic owner to do?

Obviously smoke the little fucker as he tried to undercut me coming off a roundabout !

Anyway, I may of red lined it a little (about 7k) in second and was wondering - how bad is such high revs for the engine?

It the first time I have pushed the engine that hard as I usually change gear between 4-6k revs, but was just thinking should I be a little more careful? (I admit its going to be hard to cut down as the engine 'shines' at higher revs and is much more fun!)

Oh yeah, the wide boy dropped back after his little arse whopping...

If engines werent suppose to go that high revs, Honda wouldnt allow it.......seens they have, get as higher revs as possible, and enjoy it Cheesy

The engine is built for hight revving, hench the lagg below 3.5k this is because the cars power is in the higher band of revs. Did you feel your engine cut out just before 7k revs, this will be you limter and its perfectly normal to bouce of this from time to time. If you one for reving to the limiter then just make sure that you have plenty of oil in your engine as these vtec engines need to be mainained reguarly.

Im not sure if I hit the limiter, as I was cornering.. but I didnt feel it cut out - the only thing I felt was smug as the dumb fucker was left even further behind when hit 3rd....

oil... I knew there was something to check on my new car.... hmm...   :?

nah, seriously checked it a few weeks back; lots of nice shiney (light) brown oil.

How of often should I check? also, my cars getting close to 35k miles now, is there anything else I should look/listen for? (I say listen cause the passenger side window's rattling and driving me mad!)

You'd notice if you hit the limiter! All your power would have gone.......tbh, its probably worth going out on a quiet road and hit the limiter on purpose, just so you know what it feel like and you dont shit yourself when it does happen.

I check my oil every month or so.......never really drops which is good Smiley

u cant do your engine any harm mate because thats why the rev limiter is there, to stop you from over revving the engine.

most of the time i never bother racing because i usually have the missus and my little girl in the car.
if i'm on my own then its usually a different matter, especially when people are in the wrong lane coming off a roundabout and cut me up as this really winds me up.
